Wind-Blown Hair:  Blow it a Kiss Goodbye! (Senior Portraits Alabama Photographer, Huntsville, Alabama)

We love Spring photo shoots because the fresh greens and colorful blossoms can make your photos look like princess story book illustrations.  But every fairy tale has its villain, and Spring is no exception.  If Belle is the Beauty in your photo shoot story, then Gaston must be in those gusts of wind that make your hair look like a hot mess.

A gentle breeze can move hair beautifully for photographs, as we all know.  But if those gusts are more than 10-15 miles per hour, hair can look absolutely crazy and unflattering when blown.  As a matter of fact, I have a session today for a local model's portfolio, and winds are expected to be around 20mph at the time we're supposed to start shooting!

So where is the "happily ever after" in this follicle-flying, topsy-turvy tale?  As it turns out, the IntraWebs provide us with more answers than you can hit with a bucket of bobby pins!

Here are a few "go-to" ideas you can file into your "Windy Day Do's" folder:

French braids pulled back into a ponytail or bun, by YouTuber Mysweetrealityx3 shows a very simple-but-elegant style that you can accomplish in just a few minutes.

Hats are an excellent fashion accessory that can combat wind-blown hair, like nastygal.com's No Chill Ribbed Beanie ($18).

This isn't a Bridal post, but we can all agree Bridal hairstyles are gorgeous and fashionable.  Elle.com writes that braids are HOT for 2018 brides, and notice how almost every single hairstyle pictured on this post would work very nicely for windy-day hair.

And finally, what better region of the United States to consult than the windy, flat southwestern desert region?  'The Salon' by Lora Brown in Amarillo, TX, is exposed to nearly year-round wind.  Brown describes three classic hairstyles that can be used to avoid messy hair photos in this post on her blog.

Hopefully, we've given you some great ideas for how to battle the winds for your photo shoots, or just keeping your locks under control when you'll be hanging out with your friends outside!
